Approximations for a Function of Two Variables

چکیده
A discussion of the convergence of approximating functions for a given function of two variables ƒ(#, y), just as in the case of functions of one variable, can be based on two sets of theorems: (1) theorems on the existence of functions of closest approximation; (2) theorems on the representation of ƒ(#, y) by means of finite sums constructed in a specific way. From the first group we shall make use of the following theorem :

Bounds for CDFs of Order Statistics Arising from INID Random Variables
In recent decades, studying order statistics arising from independent and not necessary identically distributed (INID) random variables has been a main concern for researchers. A cumulative distribution function (CDF) of these random variables (Fi:n) is a complex manipulating, long time consuming and a software-intensive tool that takes more and more times. Therefore, obtaining approximations a...
متن کاملContinuous Discrete Variable Optimization of Structures Using Approximation Methods
Optimum design of structures is achieved while the design variables are continuous and discrete. To reduce the computational work involved in the optimization process, all the functions that are expensive to evaluate, are approximated. To approximate these functions, a semi quadratic function is employed. Only the diagonal terms of the Hessian matrix are used and these elements are estimated fr...
متن کاملروش وزنی تصادفی شبیهسازی مونتکارلو برای تحلیل قابلیت اطمینان سازهها
The computational burdens and more accurate approximations for the estimation of the failure probability are the main concerns in the structural reliability analyses. The Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) method can simply provide an accurate estimation for the failure probability, but it is a time-consuming method for complex reliability engineering problems with a low failure probability and may e...
متن کاملAsymptotic Approximations of the Solution for a Traveling String under Boundary Damping
Transversal vibrations of an axially moving string under boundary damping are investigated. Mathematically, it represents a homogenous linear partial differential equation subject to nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. The string is moving with a relatively (low) constant speed, which is considered to be positive. The string is kept fixed at the first end, while the other end is tied with the ...
متن کاملAnalysis of High-order Approximations by Spectral Interpolation Applied to One- and Two-dimensional Finite Element Method
The implementation of high-order (spectral) approximations associated with FEM is an approach to overcome the difficulties encountered in the numerical analysis of complex problems. This paper proposes the use of the spectral finite element method, originally developed for computational fluid dynamics problems, to achieve improved solutions for these types of problems. Here, the interpolation n...
متن کاملThe Effect of Exchange-Correlation Holes on the Temperature Dependent Dynamic Dielectric Function of Single-Layer Quantum Wells and Coupled Nanolayers
In this paper, for the first time we have studied theoretically the effect of exchange-correlation holes around electrons in GaAlAs/GaAs/GaAlAs nanostructure on the temperature-dependent dynamic dielectric function of two-dimensional electron gas by employing random phase, STLS and Hubbard approximations. Also, we have investigated another interesting system which is coupled quantum wells struc...
